Houghton's Pond Recreation Area

Blue Hill River Road, Milton
Follow Washington to Rte 138 and head north over Rte 128/93. At intersection, turn right on Blue Hill River Rd. and continue past the Stop sign. Park is on your left.
Plenty of parking, equipment for all ages, sandy beach, snack bar and bathrooms available, walking trails

Fisherman's Beach

Randolph St, Canton (next to Temple Beth David)
Part of the Blue Hills Reservation, car-topable boats allowed, beach (no swimming posted, but people do), small parking lot, 5mile trail around Ponkapoag Pond plus access to other trails, or for a longer walk in, park at the Ponkapoag Golf Course area and walk along Maple Ave to the trail.

Ames St. Park

Ames St., Sharon
From Cobb’s Corner, drive along Bay Rd., turn right onto East St. at Crescent Ridge. Turn right on Ames St.
Lots of shade & seating, Appropriate for toddlers to age 10, sandbox, pirate ship, climbing structures, slides, swings, tunnels and a sandbox. Two play areas, one for younger children and one for older children.

School Street Park

School St., Westwood
Take Neponset St. over Rte 95, get on the Providence Highway heading north. Turn left onto Everett St., then take a right on Washington (1A). School St. is on your left. Limited parking.
Small area but lots of fun & new equipment for both younger and older kids.

'Dragon' Park

Pierce St, Stoughton (Walnut St off 27 in downtown)
Older park with tires made into unusual play equipment, including a dragon, big slide. Older kids. Is getting a bit dirty.

Francis William Bird Park

Washington St/Old Post Rd/Polley/Wolcote, Walpole
Take Neponset St. and get on Rte 95 South to Coney St. Turn right towards Walpole Mall, but continue over Providence Highway. Coney ends at Pleasant, turn left and watch for small parking lot on your right. Or find parking off Polley Lane.
Lots of shade, sand and equipment for all ages, many ride-on toys in fenced enclosure

Lessa Playground,

West St., Stoughton
Equipment for both younger (firetruck and slides) and older kids (climbing wall, spider web, tall slides), swings, walking trail access too.

Friendship Park

Howard Street, West Bridgewater
Rte. 106 to W. Bridgewater. Take a left onto Howard Street just after the school but before the fire station.
Fenced in playground. Playground equipment is geared for preschoolers.

Frothingham Park

Corner of Park and Sheridan Streets, North Easton
Great park with a playground, picnic tables and plenty of room for picnic blankets.
Check out the summer concerts and the Children's Races.

Nelson Street Playground

Nelson Street, Plymouth
Take Rte. 106 all the way to Plymouth. Once you enter Plymouth, take a left onto Nelson Street. Follow Nelson Street and the playground will be straight ahead.
This is a GREAT playground for warm days. It's right on the water with views of the ocean as your child plays at this sandy playground. It has a large structure for older children, a small structure for toddlers and a swingset with baby swings and regular swings. The equipment is new and in great shape. In the summer, there is also a snack shack. There is an open grassy area to play with picnic tables as well.

A smaller zoo, the kids will still have fun. They also have a free playground area. Perfect for an easy trip to the zoo.

Roger Williams Park Zoo

Elmwood Ave., Providence, Rhode Island
Rte. 95 South to Exit 17. Left at light. Entrance is 1/2 block on the left.
Not only do they have a great zoo, but there is a free playground area that has a section just for toddlers. On a hot summer day, the play area is too sunny. But it’s ideal for spring or fall. They also have a snack bar where they serve ice cream.

Free indoor play areas. Great for toddlers and preschoolers. Ideal for a rainy day. Take the kids to have their pictures done at the Picture People at the Galleria, then let them play while you wait for your pictures. Or grab some lunch and then let the kids play. A cheap day out! They have a play space on a smaller scale at Westgate Mall in Brockton, too.

A great place for ice cream. They also have a great selection of plants for your home. Be sure to check out the huge turtles outside in the back of the plant section. There's also an indoor area near the turtles that houses lots of interesting creatures.

Yardley-Wood Skating Rink

Great for outdoor skating in the winter. Very well maintained, a perfect place to teach your kids how to ice skate.
